What’s going on – Market Update

As Marvin Gaye would say “What’s going on” …

Well we feel the best way to describe the last quarter in Samui is “Steady as she goes”. The summer months saw a comfortable level of occupancy and long term visitors remaining Pricing levels held stable. Villa owners asking realistic rents had a healthy response. 2 bed valley views commanding 65’000 THB and Ultra Lux 3 Bed Seaview still receiving demand at 200’000 THB monthly for a year.

Where do we go from here?

We spoke with two General Managers of Five star Beachfront hotels who reported the following: Full occupancy already from Mid December to Songkran. Hotel rates higher than pre-Covid levels. We have already locked in two villas over Xmas/New year. We see another Bumper high season for samui in 2023/2024. Koh Samui continues to offer a “safe haven” to our Eastern Europe friends and we have seen a trickle of Chinese visitors return, despite internal scaremongering attempting to persuade many to holiday domestically.

The infrastructure of the island continues to improve, we note the constant addition of new cafes and new restaurants and the success of “Wing” and feel the enthusiasm returning to the island. Finally we ask this question ?. How many cannabis stores are there on Koh samui ! Surely we need a few more!!

The closest answer to be emailed to us will receive a free bottle of our finest Prosecco! Competition closes November 15 2023. Our strong advice is this, if you are looking to holiday or stay for a longer period on this amazing island then NOW is the time to negotiate … Not December 1 …

Happy Halloween
